Ophelia is a strong character, not one to be deterred from her goal. By strong I do not mean brute strength, I mean a tough personality. She wont let a crude comment by without a comment to shoot the previous one to shame. Seeing no problem with being powerful, she wishes to hold power over others, more then she should wish to. Strength is not just a characteristic for Ophelia. It holds her together, and makes sure she sticks to her promises no matter how bad they might be.
Honesty is a good policy, but Ophelia finds it hard to adhere to. Yes, she often is too honest and ends up insulting others with the truth. Sometimes, though, she finds herself entangled in webs of lies that are hard to escape from. She seems to find a way out most of the time because of her cleverness. Ophelia finds being honest gets you in more trouble then telling the truth. As for handling the truth Ophelia believes she can handle it. She likes to think she knows everything, so believes she already knows the truth. What is the point of getting told it? With her on the other end though, telling someone the truth, there is absolutely no problem. Tactfulness becomes an issue rarely and only if you are a friend to Ophelia.
Sarcasm, some say, is the lowest form of humor. Well Miss Ophelia doesn't believe so. She believes that people only say 'sarcasm is the lowest form of humor' because: 1. They are too dull to understand. 2. They are too dull to come up with comments themselves. 3. They have no sense of humor. And that is it. Opehlia's sarcastic ways prove, at least to her, that she is smart. She enjoys being a bit cruel yet still funny at the same time. It sums up her attitude about life to say that Ophelia can make fun at just about everything. Her sarcasm is subtle most of the time, she didn't care if people caught on or not, she was just happy to have laughed herself.
Old Fashioned is something you wouldn't think after reading all the things above. This girl, Ophelia, is old fashioned in many ways though. She is old fashioned with the thoughts of romance, knowing that ladies are not supposed to make the first move and that guys should definately open the door for any girl. She is classically trained for piano and the violin and has been ever since she was about 11. She thinks herself to be classy, but a wry classy lady. She knows that others wont always view her in the light, but did she truly care?
;A;l;i;c;e;
Being Proud might not be the best characteristic, okay it is not a good one at all, but Ophelia just cant help it. She thinks it better to be proud then to have no self confidence at all. Ophelia had self confidence, a lot of it, and tried to help others boost their confidence. Her ego was larger then anyone's should be, but she could see through it sometimes no matter how blinding it could be. Pride is one of those seven sins, but Ophelia doesn't believe she lets her ego get too out of control. Then again, she wouldn't admit it if she did think it was growing too dominant.
Doubtfulness is one trait that Ophelia knows is not right. She understands that she has a problem with it, but doesn't quite know how to stop doubting people in their promises. The maiden gets it when someone calls her a 'doubting Thomas' but doesn't want to be portrayed that way. She's always had some issues with believing people, and she has herself to blame for it. She, herself, lies more then she should on subjects that she shouldn't, so naturally she would wonder if others were doing the same thing. Thanks to her quick wit she dubbed herself a lie detector and thinks she can tell whats true and what is false in a person. Of course with the classes that she's taken (on Body language, psychology.) she is a bit more qualified then the average joe. In this business she has learned to question people's motives, but not to their face.
'Dreamer' might not seem like the best word to describe Ophelia, but alas, it is. Though she doubts others, she hopes they will not give her more reason to doubt. Along with being a dreamer she also is a hopeless romantic to some extent. Despite being strong, wry, and a bit cynical, she wishes to be swept off her feet in every day situations. She loves taking small things and writing about them in big ways. She would take a couple walking down the street and make a story about them, just because they looked odd together but so happy. She puts herself in the position though, wondering how happy she'd be if she found someone who wasn't pushed away by her cold comments, or her witty ways.
;S;h;a;w;
There is a bit of kindness in Ophelia's heart. It is there though most don't see it. It takes time for Ophelia to warm up to someone, but once she does she will have her ways of being quite kind and hospitable towards the person. Not having many friends has never bothered Ophelia for the plain fact that she would have to be kind to all of them. She found it easier to just keep a few good ones, maybe 3 at the most and they should know her nicer side. As for a 'soft' side, well it's yet to have been found. Ophelia hasn't put up fliers or sent a local announcement looking for it either. While most girls were sensitive Ophelia, regardless of her quite feminine name, was not sensitive in the least.
Athletic would be a good thing to say about this lovely lady. She has always been somewhat athletic in more ways then one. Ophelia participated in track, mostly pole vaulting, but also was training cross country. She was not only athletic in her physical form, but her mind was like an olympian on steroids. Needless to be redundant I don't think I have to repeat that she is smart, but she herself believes she is mastermind, and often ponders on if she could get away with robbing a bank or committing a crime. She had always been fond of Grand Theft Auto.
Loyalty is one of the better traits of Ophelia, she knows it too. She remains loyal to those loyal to her, and she also remains loyal to promises she made. Ophelia won't skip out on something just because she doesn't want to do it. Most people respect that of Ophelia, if anything else, but some take advantage of it. It doesn't mean Ophelia wont say no to a request for help, but it does mean that if she says yes to something she will go through with it. Ophelia's old friends can testify to this because Ophelia will do a lot for others. Even if she gives you a smart ass remark on her way, she will do something for you if you need it. This is why some people think Ophelia might have a soft interior, but they just find themselves wrong when she's helping them and cussing them out at the same time.
Artistic is Ophelia's being. She's always been interested in the arts, whether it would be the Piano and Violin, painting, drawing, writing, even acting. She now aspires to become a novelist and actually get her works published, she enjoys writing horror stories and suspense thrillers. She would love to write a screen play, maybe even become a director, but most of all would love to be an actress. The arts favor Ophelia, seeing as she is quite talented. She had considered Broadway for the longest time, knowing she had the voice and musical talent neccisary, but always wanted to be an actress.
;Ophelia;Alice;Shaw;
Over all Ophelia is a tough girl with a few issues on trustworthiness from other people. She believes whole-heartedly in herself and wont go back on any promises she had made before. She knows what it takes to be a friend, and to keep one, and that is why she does not have all that many. Ophelia will give you the shirt off her back as long as you ask for it, and don't disrespect her. Sarcastic comments and cynical situations make Ophelia happy, although she truly isn't a masochist. Kindness comes into play every now and then but normally she is her normal self who does in fact care about others from time to time. Arts are a large part of who she is, and she has been gifted with many talents: Musical, Vocal, Intellectual (Writing), and Performing.

The Shaw Family Before Ophelia:
Ophelia was born to a Scottish father, Kirk 'Duff' Shaw who was known as Duff because of his dark curly head of hair. Kirk Shaw was born in Scotland and moved with his family at the age of 7 to Revere MA. He was 18 years old when he met Ophelia's mother, Alena Amal. Alena Amal was born in Israel and moved to Palestine when she was still very young. Her family migrated to America when she was 15 years old, and Alena spoke very little English. Her family was never very traditional once they moved, so there were not many cultural issues. Alena met Kirk when she was 17. They were about a year apart when they had met and Alena immediately adored 'Duff' from the first time she saw him. Of course she was too shy to speak to him, she barely knew how to speak English in the first place. Kirk was the one to make the first move, and when he did it was not all over. It took two years for the two actually to go out on a date, but between Kirk's persistence and Alena's will the two ended up falling in love and did in fact get married.
Ophelia's Birth and Young Life:
Ophelia was born on October 13th in a small town called Galway, NY. The population hasn't been more then 445 in many many years. Ophelia grew up in the small town, in a small house, with a small family, and went to a small school. When she was born there was no one there but her mother, obviously, and her mothers mother. Kirk, Ophelia's father, hadn't been able to get there in time, but did come soon after the birth. Ophelia was born a Scott, a Palestinian/Israelite, and now an American. Of course she wasn't American, but she liked to think herself as having the red white and blue blood. She was taught, from a baby, how to speak Arabic and English. She took English as her first language but kept Arabic close behind understanding it was important to her mom. Ophelia had been closer to her father then her mother, even as she was very young.
Ophelia's Sister; Octavia Rosamond Shaw:
When Ophelia was three her sister, Octavia Rosamond Shaw, was born. Her sister and her never got along until Octavia reached the age of 10 and Ophelia 13. They both were the 'strange girls' in town because of their names. Everyone else had simple names that were easy to pronounce, spell, and remember. Between Ophelia and Octavia it was a battle just to learn how to spell up to the third letter. Ophelia and Octavia grew to be friends with each other, some called them antisocial, but others thought they were nice. The two didn't see each other much at school because of the age difference, but the friends both of them had didn't know much about each girls sister. Though the two girl's personalities are somewhat polar, they still got a long impecably.
Ophelia's Life; 10-14:
Ophelia went to middle school that was extremely small, which meant you were inevitably going to embarrass yourself and everyone would know about it. For Ophelia it was a bit different. She never had to defend her 'embarrassing' moments, she owned up to them and just went on with life. She only had two friends her entire middle school career. One was a guy named Rick Pilatt who had to be at least 6'3 by the eighth grade yet he only weighed at the most 125 pounds. He was always so kind, but a bit of a pushover. Her other friend was a heavy spanish girl named Jennifer Perez. She was tall herself, but still heavy and often made fun of for it. No one would say it to Jennifer's face, but they talked about it behind her back. Ophelia always tried to stand up for Jennifer and Ricky, but no one cared to listen to Ophelia. She was always a small girl, thin and short, so no one took her threats seriously. She never cursed because she knew if her mother or father caught her swearing she'd get it good.
Ophelia's life; 15-19:
Ophelia's highschool career was nothing but a waste of time to her. Rick had moved away and left her and Jennifer in the dust. Jennifer had found a new clique of Spanish girls from a different middle school and this left Ophelia with one other person. A girl named Alison Mason. Alison was the one to show Ophelia sarcasm was a good thing, and that all that crap that everyone had told Ophelia: Don't be fresh, Mind your Manors, Watch your Mouth, Education is the MOST important thing: Well all that went down the Drain thanks to Alison Mason. Ophelia didn't become disrespectful but she did wise off a hell of a lot more. She became somewhat of a jerk to everyone that dared oppose her. Alison and Ophelia were very good friends by senior year, and Ophelia had kind of led Alison around by the time. Alison created a monster within Ophelia and she was proud.
Ophelia graduated last year with a 5.32 (Honors and AP classes) GPA and a good amount of credits towards college already. College wasn't quite what she wanted though, she wanted to continue on with her love of Piano and Violin, but most of all Writing and Acting. She wanted to move to Paris, figuring a new start for a new career would be best for her. She wasn't sad to leave her parents or even Alison Mason, but instead was somewhat devastated to leave her sister Octavia.
Ophelia's Leave:
Ophelia decided for sure that she was going to go to Paris and start her new career. She was so excited to go, and felt so confident that she would go and make a new start for herself. She loved the idea, the romantic idea, of how wonderful Paris could be. She could learn French easily, she had taken French class since Freshmen year in highschool so she knew some of it. She was multilingual already knowing Arabic, English, and Gaelic (She learned it from her father and her father's family when she was young, but never used it much.) so what was one more language?
Octavia was devastated to see her sister leave, and Ophelia was devastated to see her sister devastated. Octavia was 17 when Ophelia left (at 20, now) and wanted to follow her sister but it just wouldn't do. Octavia had bought her sister a wiemaraner pup, and named him Mack, and then gave him to her sister Ophelia. Ophelia never had the heart to tell her sister that she didn't want a dog, so she took the dog graciously and now he is a part of her life.
Kirk and Alena, Ophelia's parents were sad to see her go but somewhat happy. They knew that Ophelia wasn't a social girl so they thought that the move would be best. The two were extremely glad that Ophelia was finally rid of that Alison Mason who was deemed a bad influence and a strange girl. Kirk had always had many artistic talents which he liked to think he passed on to Ophelia, Alena agreed with Kirk on that subject because she didn't posses Artistic talents herself.
Ophelia's Romantic History:
This should be quite short. Ophelia has always been a pretty girl, but very distant. Ophelia never cared to go up to others and ask for a number. She was never shy, nor is she now, but she is a romantic that believes in getting swept off her feet. As for boyfriends she has had only two. One was a middle school boyfriend, the kind where you throw pencils at each other and giggle when the other one walks by. The second was a guy during he junior year of highschool. He was new, he didn't know that no one was supposed to like Ophelia. Once everyone started bothering him about dating Ophelia he broke up with her publicly and saw her after school in private, asking if they could still go out and things just not publicly. Of course she was too proud and cruel to accept this, she wasn't going to be treated like a forbidden object when this guy was nothing more then a pansy. Other then those two Ophelia has had nothing more then a crush on a guy. Although she can be a bit... nevermind.

Appealing and Insane. How perfect. Opehlia just knew those two to go hand in hand. They walked down streets together, while holding precious grips, singing beautiful songs. It was almost as if Hester Prynne, was the factor of appealing, Dimmesdale was the insanity, and Ophelia was Pearl. Sure, Insanity denied them, but at the end...
Regardless of her turns to literature, she couldn't help but realize he forgot something. Ophelia was smart. Yes beautiful, yes a little bit crazy (debate), but also very smart. Then again, how could this fellow know so at the moment in time? He couldn't. But once words began to flow from the mouth of the dame there was no doubting her intelligence. There are times, though, were Ophelia must play a little stupid, but the times are few and far in between.
SPANISH? No. Hah! Ophelia nearly spit at the thought. It's not that she hated them, she was just mistaken for Spanish when people weren't smart enough to figure her culture. Reining from Israel and Scotland, kind of. She lived in Israel for a couple years, and then in Scotland but most of all from the son-of-a-beep small ass town Galway NY. A place where she got many inspirations from things she experienced, If that clarified how much she liked her town. Tonto, if anything, had to be more native american right? Ah, who cares.
Oh anything to spice up life, indeed my friend. Anything would do. But Ophelia, knowing her mind, only got along with those who didn't want to get a long with anyone. It was a distant friendship that she enjoyed, and a close romance that might have been foreign yet known. She was, as she already knew, a beautiful girl no doubt. But many were turned away by witty scorn.
Help was a little something Ophelia used to call a tool. Usually people respond to it because they at once had needed help. And no, she needed no help psychologically. She liked the way she thought, the patterns she could great out of gray.
She could feel the confidence oozing from his every word. She found it attractive, but knew that he'd be another ass who thought he was too good for the world that Ophelia knew she could draw him into. She had the tendency to send people off into their own psychological fields, searching for something they didn't even want to find.. but she wasn't sure that this boy would let her.
Hmm. I'm deciding whether or not I should help you. I don't usually respond to "Tonto". I don't think the wording properly shows how amaizng I am. Ophelia laughed an airy laugh, as a sprite upon a steed too tall. Halo danced in place while she saw the others approaching and went to start her foolish spinning, which Ophelia stopped. She sat up, taller then before, compensating for a a couple inches, and craned her neck in a way as he spoke.
"Oh, well, It seems I have stumbled upon a rather touchy man, now doesn't it? What would you wish for me to call you? Sir? Mister? Would that suit your whims? Hm?"
She spoke through narrow eyes, yet in her somewhat caprice nature mimicked his smirk and let her eyes become a little more open, less cynical. She had looked him over. Attractive, yes. His horse was a decent darling too. Ophelia had not been tacked as he, only having a towel and rope bridal as her steering. She didn't need much. She had been wearing shorts and paddock boots (A great look, might I add), nothing formal at all.
"I apologize for being so... cheeky? I shouldn't be so when I need help, I suppose. know what they say... You get more bees with honey then with vinegar" She really wasn't talking so much to him, thinking he wouldn't appreciate an apology. "Personally though, honey has never tasted right to me..."
"Regardless of all that nonsense, do you, perchance, know of a lake, somewhere along a trail? Oh, and I suppose I'll just keep to calling you Tonto, unless ofcourse, you give me a reason not to..."
